FLAG GAC Chioggia e Delta del Po supports and collaborates on university research projects relevant to the productive and biological context of the lagoon’s ecosystem, with particular reference to the project and the creation of a database by the Institute of Marine Biology, Padua University.
The master's degree program in Marine Biology is based in Chioggia, at Palazzo Grassi, and prepares graduates to become experts in sustainable management of marine resources and ecosystems as well as the development and management of aquaculture activities.
The University of Padua’s Hydrobiological Station is also in Chioggia, this structure has carried out research for various marine biology organizations, often in close collaboration with the territory. Research includes the study of lagoon and marine ecosystems, biology in its most diverse aspects both commercial and non, the effects of pollutants and climate change on marine organisms, invasive species, the genetics of marine species and connectivity between populations, the management of commercial species.
